You may have noticed that there is an exciting scene of self-produced singersongwriters
right now, and Jack Gray is one young artist with two eyes focused
firmly on leading that charge.
The Mackay-born 19-year-old producer/singer/songwriter is also a talented
multi-instrumentalist who can play keys, guitar, bass and drums with equal
flair. Jack quietly released his lush debut single, Red Rental Car, late in 2017
and, with little fanfare, the song has racked up almost 1,000,000 plays on
His next single My Hands is due for release late in April 2018. Jack was once
again at the production helm of this song, with Cam Bluff on mixing duties.
Both the tracks are written and produced entirely out of a caravan (aptly
named ‘Gracevan’), which is located on the beach in Northern NSW. Gray’s
songwriting, performance and production skills showcase a maturity and knack
for writing interesting, smart, emotive pop music that is far beyond his years.
Along with the release in 2017 of Red Rental Car, Jack broke into the live scene
with a tour supporting Dean Lewis on his national Triple J presents ‘Lose My
